Petshop.co.uk Dog Food

Rosie eating food from Petshop.co.uk
Hey guys! Today I wanted to show you some items that were sent to me by the lovely people at Petshop.co.uk who, you guessed it, are an online pet shop. They have thousands of items for dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, fish and more! They sell food, toys, beds, bowls and the list goes on and on. But firstly, let me introduce you to my doggies!

In the image at the top eating the food we have Rosie, she is a 5 year old West Highland Terrier. (Although she doesn't look like one at the moment because we took her to a new groomer and she shaved off all of her hair!! She usually has a lovely fluffy face.) She is the cheekiest dog you'll ever meet and is extremely loving, friendly and affectionate. She loves playing with her toys, especially squeaky ones and her her favourite thing in the world is playing fetch! She constantly wants fuss and will try everything in her power to get you to throw her ball for her and she will eat just about anything you put in front of her.

Chloe looking pretty as ever!
This is Chloe! Chloe is my baby, even though she is 14! She is also a West Highland Terrier and she is the strongest little doggy I've ever seen, she has been through so much. She has skin problems, is now completely deaf and is partially sighted. A few months back now we nearly lost her as she developed Pyometra which almost killed her. I rushed her to the vets as soon as I knew she wasn't well - she refused to eat anything and could barely stand up. The vet was absolutely amazing and managed to save her life through surgery. After the surgery however we thought we would lose her again as she developed peritonitis which is an infection. Thankfully she recovered from this and eventually began eating again. After a while though her stomach never really settled and has a strict diet of prescription dog food, anything else she will just vomit back up. But now she is back on track and is my lovely happy dog again. I love her to pieces and she means so much to me and my whole family. Just look at that beautiful face! She's my little fighter.

The first thing we tried was this wet dog food, I thought it was unbranded but looking at the website it is by Huntland and I think it is either chicken or turkey. I just used half of the pack and mashed it up and mixed it with some of the dry dog food biscuits we were given. The dry dog food biscuits are called Huntland - Grain Free. They're Scottish Loch Salmon biscuits with River Trout and Sweet Potato. Rosie absolutely LOVED it. She wolfed the whole lot down as fast as she could possibly could. I just give her half of the wet food a day and leave the other half for the next day and mix it with a handful of biscuits. Like I said Chloe can only really eat her prescription food so she wasn't able to try this unfortunately, but I'm sure she would have loved it too.

Next up we tried both of the dogs with the Dentastix. I had never given my dogs anything like these before so I was interested to see what they would do with them. I decided to try Chloe with one to see if she could eat it and she went straight in to tackle it and surprisingly she was able to keep most of it down. She vomited just a tiny bit when she had three quarters of it however I was impressed she could have that much. When I tried Rosie with one at first she was scared of it! - She is such a scaredy cat. However once she realised it was food she couldn't get enough of it and ate the whole thing very quickly.

Lastly we have the Pro Plan biscuits. I really wasn't sure if these were treats or dry food to mix in with wet food so just to be safe I thought I'd try them as just treats and this seems to be going really really well! Chloe can actually eat them, I give her quite a few of them a day and she hasn't vomited once and Rosie can't get enough of them. I will continue to give them as treats because they like them so much.

So to conclude, all of the items were a complete success and are on their way to be completely gobbled up so I will have to be making a big purchase soon! Thank you so much to the lovely people at Petshop.co.uk you have made two doggies very happy pooches and one very happy owner! I highly recommend this site they have excellent items, prices and service so give them a try.

Here are some links to the items if you want to check them out.

I believe that these were the wet food pouches:
This was definitely the dry food bag:

Unfortunately I couldn't find the exact biscuits we were given but here's a link to a bag of similar dry food.

Let me know, do you have any pets? Would you use this site to buy your pet food/toys/beds etc? See you in my next post!

I'm back!

selfie on my 21st birthday wearing new camel pea coat from asos
Picture from my birthday wearing my new coat.
Hey guys! I'm sorry for the lack of posts for the past few weeks, I have been a very very bad blogger. For the first week that I hadn't blogged it was because I had been busy celebrating my 21st birthday. I didn't do anything big I just spent a few days with my friends and family going for meals and going out drinking. I don't remember much for my birthday night out so that's how you know it was a good night! From my parents I got a Burberry cashmere scarf which I am absolutely totally in love with! I've been wearing it so much and it couldn't be more perfect. My boyfriend bought me a lovely coat that I adore along with a £50 voucher for Selfridges (which I am yet to spend) and some chocolates. One of my brothers got me some haircare products and my other brother thought he was hilarious by getting me 21 gifts from the pound shop... Which included a crocodile hat, some moustaches, plastic toy dogs, a Toblerone, a christmas CD, a blue wig, a chalk board and some other random terrible things hahaha.

Anyway since my birthday week I have been a bit ill and been feeling really rubbish so have been taking it easy and relaxing. Also more recently my dog has been ill again too. She's 14 so she's very old but she is a fighter and has been through so much!

I've been really looking forward to getting back into blogging again because I've missed it so much and I've missed chatting with you guys and getting involved in the Twitter chats and discovering new blogs. I have a few posts planned very soon, in fact my next post will be about some things that were sent to me for my doggies to try out! I can't wait to write that. I will also be writing a life update on Sunday or Monday where I'll probably let you guys know a little more about my new business!

Thanks so much guys for baring with me, please check back soon for some more posts from me - I promise I'll be much better at blogging than I have been :-) In the comments below let me know if you'd like to see a tutorial of my birthday make-up look.

Being Honest

Hi guys, I've been a very very bad blogger recently, I'll probably go into that in my next post but I really felt like writing this first...

It's currently 2am in the morning and I'm exhausted yet wide awake. I'm not going to share this post on any social media account, send it to anybody or even tell anybody I've written it. It is purely going to be posted on here, with no labels/tags, for my loyal readers or just anybody that stumbles along it.

I've never really been one for writing about my feelings over the internet and to be honest, I rarely talk about what's really going on in my head. I constantly remind myself that someone always has things much worse than me - this is definitely true, I'm well aware of that and I'm so grateful for everything and everyone I have. However I still feel like the world is swallowing me, that I'm becoming someone I hate, that I'm afraid of everything. I don't want to and I don't think I should, but I do. I probably have the most friends right now that I've ever had in my life but strangely enough I've never felt more alone. I am plagued by paranoia whenever I hear a whisper - it's surely about me. I feel as though I must be such an annoyance to everyone and most of the time - I don't even know why.

Right now I feel so stuck in one place. Where is my life going? Why am I so unsuccessful? And the worst question - Why, at 21 years old, do I still not know what I want to do with my life? Every time these questions enter my brain I panic. I'm panicking now writing this.

I bet none of this makes sense, but I'm just writing as and when things come to me.. like I'm talking to you. It's a conversation, no, it's therapy. It's therapy for me to be able to put these thoughts into words and into sentences. I fear that this could seem very dark, but don't worry - I'm fine! Just.. tired and stressed.. worried, frustrated, lonely... and exhausted.

Everyone has their own battles and their own personal demons. Fight for happiness.

THE AUTUMN TAG

london cafe photography copyrighted abieelucas 2015
©abieelucas
Hey guys! I have been tagged by my fabulous friend Jess to do The Fall/Autumn Tag. I'm really excited to talk about this because it is my favourite season for many reasons. 1. It's my birthday month! 2. Halloween! 3. It's cold enough to layer clothes and wear pretty jackets and scarves but not so freezing that you refuse to leave the house. Let's get on with it shall we..

1. Favourite Candle

What a great start, I honestly cannot answer this one because of one simple reason.. I don't use candles! I can almost hear all of the beauty bloggers over the world recoiling in horror as I say that and praying that I at least use Lush bath bombs. (I've used a few don't worry!) But as I still live with my parents right now they definitely would not trust me with candles. I honestly don't blame them.. I am ridiculously clumsy. But If I had a think about it I would definitely choose something woody and musky, or perhaps something Christmassy.

2. Favourite Lip Colour

This is my favourite question because I go mad for a dark lip. Dark lips are my thaang. (Do people still say 'thang'?) I'm loving the cheap and cheerful 'Starry-Eyed' by Rimmel at the moment because it's the perfect dark lip to wear in the day as it's not too scary. However I have been compared to Morticia Addams while wearing is but maybe that's the look I'm going for? I would recommend using a lip liner for this one, in fact I'd probably recommend a lip liner for any dark lip!

3. Favourite Drink

Okay so I'm really starting to realise how boring I am.. I don't like any hot drinks. Well, I say that but I just hate coffee. And it's annoying because I really want to like coffee! The only thing that I will drink is a caramel macchiato from Starbucks. I guess that's coffee, right? I don't mind hot chocolate and I guess that's Autumn/Winter-y? In fact my friend who works in Costa made his own drink and made me try it - it was a hot chocolate with mint and white chocolate syrup with cream on top, chocolate sauce and golden sprinkles. It wasn't even like drinking a hot drink it was like drinking a heart attack.. but a tasty one. To answer this question.. I really don't know!!

4. Favourite Blush

This is a really tough one because I honestly don't get how blush can be Autumnal. I sound like a really bad beauty blogger. I think I tend to associate blush with Spring/Summer because they are usually pink colours. If I had to choose I would say the blush that I'm currently using - Elizabeth Arden blush in Tea Rose as it's more of a dusky deep pink than a bright pink.

5. Favourite Clothing Item

Can I say something that I don't actually own yet? Well I am anyway! For my birthday this Sunday my Mum has bought me a Burberry cashmere scarf, eek!! I'm so excited to receive it and wear it throughout the whole Autumn Season as it is camel which is going to go with everything! I will have to take lots of pictures when I get it :-)

6. Favourite Movie

It has to be The Nightmare Before Christmas! Is it a Christmas film or is it a Halloween film? Who cares because I watch Christmas films in August anyway ;-) I love it so much and I want to dress as Sally this year for Halloween. I also love Jess' choice for this question - Hocus Pocus is amazing.

7. Favourite TV Show

For this time of year what other show could it be than American Horror Story!? It's such a fantastic show - the acting, the writing, the direction, the production, the camera work, the costumes, the editing, the music. Everything is amazing and I'm not surprised with how popular it has become. My favourite season had to be Asylum I watched it over and over. However the last season they did I struggled to get into and still need to finish. I'm looking forward to the next season with Lady Gaga in it!

8. Favourite Thanksgiving Food

Well I am from the UK and we don't have Thanksgiving over here unfortunately - I wish we did though. So I thought about what we have for Christmas dinner instead (and I'm assuming the food is similar, correct me if I'm wrong) and my favourite part of that is the potatoes - I'm a carb fangirl.

9. Favourite Halloween Costume

Do you know what, I really have never made enough of an effort with Halloween but I really want to! Last year I went as a devil.. I say that, I just wore a red dress and horns. I think in regards to others' Halloween Costumes my favourite one I have seen is when Sam Chapman from Pixiwoo did a tutorial for Miss Argentina from Beetlejuice! It looked awesome and I'd love to do that myself.

Weekly Life Update: Starting my own business & Playing old games

Hey guys! I'm back again with my weekly life update and I feel like I have so much to tell you. So as you may know if you've been reading my blog for a while I have gone back to my old job at the cinema and although I like being with my friends I'm really not earning enough money to live off - and quite frankly it's not what I want to do with my life. I've been applying for so many jobs and in fact I have an interview for something next week but I have always wanted to work for myself and until I can make a success of my blog the only thing I could do to do that is start my own business! To be honest, my Dad actually pitched me the idea for the business before I even thought about starting one and it sounded really interesting so I took it on. I'm really excited about it! I can't tell you much about it right now but I can say that it is an online business and a unique idea. I have hired a really lovely and talented guy to do my website and it's all running smoothly so far! I have also just applied to open a business account which is very grown up.. It's crazy I'm an adult I still feel about 12. So yeah I'm so excited and I hope you're excited for me, wish me luck! I will of course tell you guys about it in more detail when I can :-)

Something else that happened this week was my random craving for playing old games I used to play when I was a kid. I don't know if any of you guys would be interested in this - considering you're reading a beauty blog, but would you want to see a post about all of the old games I used to love? I managed to download this game called Titanic: Adventure out of Time where you would be a detective on the RMS Titanic and talk to people and complete tasks. From what I remembered of the game I thought you had to stop the Titanic from sinking but when I got to the end it still sunk but you just survived it.. Pretty pointless I guess but it was so fun! This sparked a craving for more old games and tried downloading The Simpsons Virtual Springfield. Now, if you've ever played this or even heard of it you need to tell me because I've never met anyone who had this but it was awesome! Unfortunately it didn't work :-( Of course I used to love all of the Rugrats PS1 games! Search for Reptar, Rugrats in Paris and Totally Angelica. Totally Angelica was the BEST. Let me know if you had any of those! I think I might have to purchase them all and play them to satisfy my craving.

Also this week I went to West Midlands Safari Park with my friend Emily. I loved it so much! It's quite far from where I live, well it look about an hour and a half to drive there but it was actually pretty easy to get to. I had never been to a Safari Park before, in fact I don't think I had ever been to a zoo before. One of the animals actually spat at me through my window which was lovely.. and I saw a goat with an underbite. I also got to see my favourite animal - penguinssss! Ahh it was a lovely day out, I recommend going if you haven't been before.

Crazy animal spitting at me
In other news, I had a great night out Friday night for my friend Reece's leaving do. Needless to say I was a little (a lot) worse for wear on Saturday.. Thank God I didn't have work. And I'll be heading out again to party for my 21st this coming Saturday! I'm expecting many Happy Birthday comments ;-)

Thanks so much for reading, in the comments below tell me what your favourite game was as a kid and if you would play it now. See you in my next post!

Topshop Autumn Wishlist

Hey guys! Sorry I haven't written a weekly life update this week, the reason for that is because I simply haven't done anything! All I have done is work and other than that I have hardly left the house. However the one thing I did do was see Legend at the cinema! It was incredible. Tom Hardy was fantastic and I hope he gets nominated for an Oscar.

Anyway let's get on with my wish list! Topshop for me is very hit and miss. Sometimes I won't like anything in there for months and sometimes I will want everything - right now I want everything.
I absolutely love this 'Ribbed Side Split Jumper' it is perfect for the Autumn season. I love the rusty/burnt orange colour (which is huge this season) and I especially love the high neck on it. Is it normal that I want all of my tops/jumpers this season to be high necked/polo necked? I also think it would look great with some simple black jeans. It's £36 and comes in more colours.

Rust orange ribbed high neck jumper

It's the same jumper again! But this time it's in this creamy/beige colour. I love it just as much as the rust colour and think it would go with so many things. I would pair this with a grey skirt and black tights. I feel the need to say yet again how much I love the high neck. This jumper also looks like it would keep you super warm but without being too thick.

Beige ribbed high neck jumper

I think I have already featured this - or a similar one - in another post but I had to feature it again because I just love it so much. I think it is the perfect jacket for Autumn and is so versatile. It's called the 'MOTO Vintage Borg Western Jacket' and is £58.

Vintage denim jacket

I lo-o-o-o-ve this beautiful duster coat. There is something very 'Burberry' about it and if you know me then you will know that Burberry is my all time favourite designer brand and if I can get something that looks a little like Burberry and not have to fork out £2000, I'll take it! It's feminine and it's beautiful, I simply need it. A little on the pricier side the '70's Belted Duster Coat' is £79.

Camel duster coat

I love minimalism and this sweatshirt should definitely be in my wardrobe. It's a staple piece and would go with everything. The 'Premium Clean Raglan Sweater' is by Boutique and is £45.

Black sweatshirt

Last but not least we have these beauties. I still don't have a pair of these and I think I may have to purchase them or ask for them for my birthday (which is in 2 weeks eek!) If you're looking for the perfect versatile shoes to take you from day to night then you need a pair of these. They're called the 'Jackpot Elastic Back Mid-Heel Shoes' and they are £58.

Black elastic back peep toe mid heel shoes

There you have my Topshop wish list and I must say I could have put in so many more pieces but the post would be incredibly long. I adore Autumn fashion and I'm so happy I can wear jumpers again!! Which of these is your favourite? Also let me know what's on your Autumn wish list.

Thanks so much for reading and I'll see you in my next post :-)

EscapeShoes: Trainers - Nike | Converse | Vans |

Hey guys! Today I wanted to talk to you about an online footwear store called EscapeShoes. They're based in Portugal and sell copious amounts of different brands and styles of shoes so you are bound to find something you like within their abundant collection. Something I don't usually talk about is my love of wearing trainers. I mean.. I love shoes in general, but you can't beat the comfort of a good trainer. I don't wear trainers as much as I wear shoes but I have worn my Converse and New Balance to death. In fact I think my New Balance trainers are the comfiest shoes that I own. I thought I'd show you guys my top picks from EscapeShoes to show you a little bit of what they have to offer.
Vans make me weirdly happy. I think it has something to do with the fact that when I went through my "emo" stage when I was 13 I was obsessed with them. I remember my pink and black checkered Vans were my staple fashion piece ha ha. Well these are much different - for the better. I love the cute coral colour, I think these would look fabulous with some white jeans. These are currently on sale for 40,73€ which equates to around £29.68. They're called 'Sneakers Vans wok5sh Old School Hot Coral White'.

Burgundy is going to be huge this Autumn/Winter so you need to grab a pair of these to wear with your black/camel coloured outfits! Imagine these while wearing NARS Ingrid lipstick - amazing! You cannot go wrong with a pair of Chucks. These are 64€ which equates to £47.36 and they are called 'Sneakers Converse All Star M9691 Maroon Ox'.

I have wanted a pair of these for so long. I definitely prefer the white versions of these but they're currently out of stock - however I still love them in black! I envisioned myself wearing the white ones with an all white outfit, however I don't think I'm cool enough to pull that off. These however would look great with anything! They're 100€ which equates to around £72.87. They're called 'Sneakers Nike Wmns Air Force 1 07 315115 038'.

There you are, there are my top picks from EscapeShoes. Let me know which are your favourites! Thanks so much for reading guys, your comments and support mean the world to me.

Weekly Life Update: Paris & Being Unwell

© abieelucas 2015
Hey guys! It's the end of the week so it's time for my weekly life update. I wasn't able to write one last week of course because I was in beautiful Paris! We left on the Friday evening, stayed in London overnight and took the Eurostar to Paris Saturday morning. It really surprised me how fast it was to get there! We left Paris on Monday evening and ended up getting home in the early hours of Tuesday around 1-2am after some long delays. I will go into more depth in my Paris post which will be up in the next few days so look out for that! I think it should be up on Tuesday or Wednesday. I have so many photos to show you guys! If you want to take a look at them now then head on over to my instagram @abieelucas and give me a follow I have loads of pics on there.

So this week I had my first day back at my old job; considering I have been off for a month it was all like second nature to me so I hadn't forgotten anything. I actually had to train newbies on my first day back! I am glad to be back in a place I know well but I am still looking to find a job that is more fitting with what I want to do. For example beauty, fashion or social media related. I actually got in contact with etailPR which some of you bloggers will know about and they are looking for interns; however they are based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire which would be over 1hr40m commute for me every morning so unfortunately I had to forget about that idea. The dream would be for me to be a full time blogger! That is my biggest life goal and I work so hard on it that I'm hoping that it will all pay off one day and I will be able to make a living from it. Wish me luck.

For the past few days, particularly yesterday I've been feeling incredibly unwell. I've been having some of the worst stomach aches I've ever had. In fact some of them made me double over in pain it was that excruciating. They came and went until yesterday I began getting shivers and I was freezing cold and felt so nauseous. I was on my own so I had no choice but to call the NHS 111 line to see what I should do. The lady on the phone booked me an appointment at my nearest hospital and I managed to drive there okay. I had a bit of a walk in the fresh air which made me feel slightly better and the doctor examined me. Turns out he thinks I have a kidney infection - which was actually a surprise to me. I'm being treated for that and today I am feeling a little better but not 100% yet. The doctor did also tell me that if the pain got any worse I must go straight to A&E as he thinks it could be appendicitis - which is actually what I thought it was in the first place; but I am feeling a little better now so I don't think it is anymore. I actually went to a small house party last night and didn't feel like drinking - that's how you know I'm ill.

So that's pretty much it, it wasn't a very exciting few days after my return from Paris but hopefully next week will be better and that I won't be ill. Thanks so much for reading guys, your support means the absolute world to me. See you in my next one!

The Love / Hate Tag

Hey guys! So I have been tagged by the wonderful Sophie to do the Love/Hate tag. (You must check her blog out she is loveliest and her posts are on point.) The rules are that you must simply state 10 things you love and 10 things you hate; then tag other bloggers. So here it goes...

Love

  1. Travelling. There is nothing better than experiencing and immersing yourself in a new culture and learning about the world around us.
  2. Bad TV. This probably sounds a little weird but my guiltiest pleasure is watching car crash television. For example I love watching Big Brother, X Factor, Jerseylicious - all of those bad shows! But I also love the slightly better shows like The Apprentice and Bake off. I just love TV really..
  3. Make-up. Sounds like a pretty obvious one considering I write a beauty blog.. but I feel like make-up is my life. And I know that I want to work in the beauty industry in some way or another.
  4. Tom Hanks. My all time favourite actor! Need I say more?
  5. Film. I have always loved movies, watching them and even trying to make them myself. I studied Media Studies for a year in sixth form before doing Graphic Design in college and I actually loved it. I have a passion for filming and editing and love it just as much as watching films. I honestly could probably write a list of 100 of my favourite films, I may have to actually do that one day.
  6. Christmas. Oh my god I absolutely adore Christmas and everything about it. When it gets darker earlier, thick warm jumpers, fuzzy socks, buying presents for people, watching christmas films, putting up the decorations. I don't think I'll ever grow out of it.
  7. Family guy. It is just the best thing to ever grace my television. If you want to know what taste in humour I have, watch family guy. If you like it, we would get on :-)
  8. Alone time. I absolutely love hanging out with my friends and family; I'm definitely a sociable person, however there's nothing quite like having some alone time and reading a good book in peace and quiet.
  9. Rubik's cubes. I have mastered the Rubik's cube! I think my record of solving it is around 1 minute - which is ages compared to some people but I was very proud of myself for being able to do this haha. However I recently bought a special Mona Lisa Rubik's cube from the Louvre in Paris and it's proving waaaaaay harder to solve because all of the pieces have to be the right way around whereas the standard cube it doesn't matter.. I'm determined to conquer it.
  10. Burberry. Ugh I love it so much, my ultimate favourite designer brand.

Hate

  1. People talking during a movie. Shut up!!
  2. Being ignored or being talked over. It is the height of rudeness.
  3. The Kardashians. This may be very unpopular, but honestly.. I do not care. Every time I see someone write something on twitter or facebook about the Kardashians or their lives or their stupid TV shows I just want to express to them how much I do not care about them. I literally.. could not care less about them. Rant over.
  4. Judgemental people. I'm just gonna put it out there, I don't care what race, gender, age, sexuality, religion, shape, size you are. If you're nice then I'll like you and I hate people who judge others based on any of those factors.
  5. Long car journeys. I kinda stole this one from Sophie but I can't stand them!! I get so travel sick unless I am driving.
  6. My hair. I could write a whole blog post on how annoying my hair is but just know this.. it is annoying.
  7. Animal cruelty. Need I explain? It sickens me.
  8. That I'm crap at taking naps. I just can't nap! If I do then I wake up feeling sick and confused. Does anyone else get that?
  9. Wrinkly hands after baths/showers. This has always been a thing for me ever since I was really little. I hate the feeling of my hands being wrinkly and when they are, the thought of touching paper makes me want to cry!! As soon as I get out the bath/shower I have to moisturise straight away I can't even touch the towels properly! Is this weird?
  10. Public transport. I'm sorry if this sounds snobby but I absolutely despise public transport. When I used to have to get the bus to sixth form every day it was the absolute worst and it actually made me more determined to pass my driving test. Trains are the same for me, I feel like I shouldn't touch anything because you don't know who else has touched it and where their hands have been! That being said though I think the London underground system is an absolutely amazing system. Still makes me feel dirty though!
And there we are! I have just shown the world how weird I am - hooray, ha ha :-) Here are my nominations.

Thanks so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed this tag. Let me know in the comments below 1 thing you love and 1 thing you hate, I'd love to know :-) See you in my next post!

Autumn Make-up Tutorial

Hey guys! This is my first post since I have been back from Paris and although I've only been away for a few days I've really missed blogging almost every day and I've been itching to write a post! Now that it is Autumn (yay!) I thought I would do something a little different to my usual stuff and do a sort of tutorial on the Autumn inspired make-up that I have been wearing lately. It's quite bronzy and dark - which I lo-o-o-ve and I hope you like it too :-) It did take me ages to take photos of the make-up that actually showed up so I apologise if they're a bit crap. In fact if you would like me to do a youtube tutorial on this so you can see it a bit better then please let me know and if the demand is high enough I will :-) So let's crack on.

  1. I started off by priming my face with my Revlon face primer - which also acts as a mattifying layer so if you have oily skin it will be fantastic for you.
  2. Take your favourite foundation and apply it to your face however you prefer. I used Clinique Perfectly Real foundation and applied it with a Real Techniques Buffing Brush. This foundation is a really good coverage.
  3. Next use your concealer under your eyes and wherever else you need more coverage. I used Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer but honestly, I don't really rate it. I would recommend Collection Lasting Perfection because it really is the best!
  4. I have combination skin but lately I've been getting quite oily so I used my favourite pressed powder Maybelline Fit Me powder to mattify even more and prevent any oiliness throughout the day.
  5. Carrying on with the face take your favourite bronzer or contour colour and apply that in the hollow of your cheeks, along your forehead, temples and jawbone. I used Rimmel Natural Bronzer - which I'm loving at the moment.
  6. I didn't actually use any blusher but this would be where you would use yours if you want one.
  7. If you like to wear highlighter take Mac Soft & Gentle across the tops of your cheekbones, a little on the forehead, tip of your nose, cupid's bow and a little on your chin.
  8. On to the eyes I took Mac Antiqued which is a beautiful coppery colour all across the mobile lid.
  9. I blended this out by using Mac Haux as my transition colour and used a Mac 217 to do this.
  10. I then used Mac Honey Lust just in the inner corners of my eyes and used a pencil brush to do that.
  11. With the same pencil brush take Antiqued again and sweep that under the eye.
  12. Next I used Rimmel Liquid Liner to draw a line across the eye with a wing at the end.
  13. Now line your tight line and water line with any black pencil liner. I used Mac Kohl in Feline. Make sure you take that just a little bit below the water line but not too far down.
  14. If you like you can now smudge that just a little bit with Antiqued again with a pencil brush just to smoke that out a little.
  15. Add lashings of mascara for thick full eyelashes. I used L'Oreal Miss Manga mascara - which is incredibly hard not to transfer on your lid so be very careful with this.
  16. Next up is brows but everyone is different here so do them however you usually would. I always use Mac Night Whisper with a Mac 208 brush to do mine.
  17. On to the lips, I would definitely recommend lining your lips before using a dark colour but if you're like me and don't have the right shade just go straight in with the bullet. I first moisturised my lips with some chapstick and then used Rimmel Starry-Eyed which is a gorgeous deep berry colour. It comes out a lot lighter and more red in the picture but it is a lot darker in person.

So that's the finished look! Hopefully I haven't forgotten anything. Like I said though the pictures really don't do it justice I really love the colour pay off of Antiqued! I would absolutely LOVE it if you re-created this look using your own products so if you do please please take a picture and upload to instagram and tag me in it so I can see it or tweet me your picture on twitter! I'm @abieelucas on both platforms so I cannot wait to see your Autumn looks!! Also please leave me a comment below and tell me what you think of this look, would you wear it? And what is your go-to Autumn look?

Thanks so much for reading guys, your comments make my day every single day and make me so happy! I'll be back tomorrow with another post :-)

Autumn Fashion

Hey guys! It's now September (I know, I can't believe it either) and it's officially Autumn so naturally I'm already looking at pieces I want to buy and wear this season. I absolutely love Autumn and winter, wrapping up in scarves and hats. And of course before we know it it will be Christmas!

So I did a bit of searching on the web for pieces I would like to put together and I think the 'camel' colour trend will follow us all the way throughout this year so I'd really like to pair that with some oxblood/burgundy shades. This is my outfit that I put together on Polyvore; some of the pieces are affordable but others are not but that's only because they're just what I found on Polyvore I'm sure you find the same pieces (or similar) for far less!
Camel T-shirt - This is from Madewell and it is just a really simple camel t-shirt which is one of the items that you can find anywhere! This one in particular is £13
Denim & Borg Jacket - I really love this style of denim jacket with the borg lining, it will keep you so warm! This one is from Topshop and is £72 but I did see one similar on ASOS for around £45 if you're interested in that style!
Ripped Jeans - Now I saw this on the Polyvore website and added them straight away because they are actually Saint Laurent. I can only dream that I'll be able to afford Saint Laurent items! If you're interested they are from Neiman Marcus and are £650. You can literally find jeans exactly like this anywhere though so try Topshop before you fork out that kind of money ;-)
Burberry Scarf - I actually based this whole look around this scarf because it is going to be my birthday present next month! It think it really goes in this colour scheme. I chose this link because you can buy a pre-owned one for around £190 from that website instead of forking out £300+ for a brand new one.
Mulberry Bag - Now this was the 'showstopper' for me. I absolutely adore this bag it really is stunning. Unfortunately it is waaay out of my budget though as it is the Cara Delevingne bag from Mulberry and is around £1045. I had to include it though even if it was just a point of reference for the colour. This pop of burgundy/berry compliments the camel so well.
Chelsea Boots - Finally something affordable! Chelsea boots were huge last Autumn/Winter and I believe they will be again this year too. I love these chunky boots as they have a slight masculine vibe to them. I'm all about androgyny! They are from ASOS and are in the sale for £30 previously £40.
NARS Lipstick - A lipstick to go with the bag, this lipstick from NARS is perfect. It's in the shade Red Lizard and is £20; which is pretty steep for a lipstick, I know. However there are definitely some cheaper drug store dupes in the same colour!
Sunglasses - Lastly, I had to end on a high. These absolutely stunning sunglasses are by Céline and are from Nathalie Schuterman. They're called the Céline Strat Circle Sunglasses and my goodness I wish I had them in my life! They're £235 so if anyone would like to lend me £235 then I would be a very happy blogger ;-) Haha!

So that's about it! Sorry most of those picks were on the high end side, it's pretty easy to get carried away on Polyvore! And like I said you can always find similar items from other stores. Before I go I just wanted to let you know that I will be in Paris until Tuesday so I apologise in advance for the lack of posts over the next few days. I will try and schedule a post or two to go up over the weekend. Watch out for my Paris trip blog post some time next week! Thanks so much for reading :-)

Liebster Award

I've seen this award going around so much in the time that I have been blogging and now I'm happy to say that I have been nominated for the Liebster Award! I was nominated by my good friend Jess and the award is for bloggers who have 200 followers or less to enable them to grow in the blogging world.

The Rules

  • Once nominated, make a post thanking and linking your nominator's blog.
  • Include the Liebster Award's sticker in the post as well (you can copy it from above).
  • Nominate 10 other new bloggers that have 200 or less followers who you think are worthy of this award and include their links in your post. Also, make sure that you let them know they've been nominated by commenting on one of their posts. You can nominate the person who nominated you.
  • Answer the 10 questions asked to you by your nominator (these questions should be on their post). And make 10 questions of your own for your nominees to answer.
  • Finally, copy these rules onto your post.
Jess' Questions

1. Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging because I felt like I needed a platform to talk about my love for beauty and fashion. I also find it almost therapeutic talking about my life, like I'm getting things off my chest. I also started blogging because I wanted to be in the blogger community and I'm so glad I did because I've had the pleasure of speaking to some wonderful people and it's so nice that we share common interests! Before I started blogging I started my own youtube channel however I wasn't gaining many views/subscribers so I decided to take my thoughts to blogging instead. I would really like to get back into making youtube videos though as I absolutely loved making them!

2. What are 3 facts about you that not many people know?
a) I am obsessed with everything to do with Christmas. Pretty much all year round I look forward to Christmas time. I mean, I watch Christmas films in August.. I'm watching The Santa Clause 2 as I'm writing this post. Not even joking.
b) I have a permanent brace on the back of my teeth. I had train track braces when I was about 13 only for around 8 months and when I got them taken off I had a permanent brace put on the back of my teeth. The orthodontist they will be there forever.. well unless they break off.
c) I have anxiety. I don't talk about it very often, but perhaps I should? I know that so many people have it and it's very common but sometimes it can really feel like you're the only person who feels that way. I won't go into detail in this post - it's a whole other story!

3. What is your favourite beauty product?
Oh wow, that's a toughie! I think it has to be Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation. It is literally the best thing to ever grace my skin and will always be my all time favourite foundation.

4. Do you have any pet peeves?
Oh my gosh, loads. Bad mannered people. Being ignored. Body shaming. People talking when I'm trying to watch a movie. Ungratefulness. Man buns. I could go on and on and on.

5. What were your summer essentials this year?
Probably my Maybelline Fit Me pressed powder to prevent oily skin throughout the day and Mac Soft & Gentle for a lovely summery glow.

6. Favourite Quote?
I spent so long thinking about this and I don't think I have one! The only thing I could think of is something that my mum always used to (and still does) say to me "never wish your life away". I always remember that because when I'm older I know that I will wish I was younger again, I already do.

7. Which 3 people, dead or alive, would you have over for dinner and why?
Firstly it would have to be Tom Hanks because he is my all time favourite actor and I would just make him quote all of his films. Secondly I would have over Zooey Deschanel because she's just the coolest and I'd make her sing with me and teach me to be her. And lastly I would have to pick Karl Pilkington. I mean, does that really need a reason? He would make me cry laugh.

8. 3 Favourite Films
I have about 100 favourite films but my top 3 would probably be Forrest Gump, Les Misérables and Pretty Woman.

9. Which is your favourite high street fashion shop?
I would like to say ASOS because there's so much to choose from but it's only an online store so otherwise it would be Monki.

10. Where is your favourite place to visit?
Ahh there are so many places in the world that I love! But I think I would never get bored of going back to L.A. Although Sorrento is the most beautiful place I've ever been so either of those.

Nominations

Sohiejc (She has actually just passed 200 followers but I had to include her as she's my fave!)

My Questions

1. If you could dress in head to toe in one designer brand what would it be?
2. What is your go-to make-up look?
3. How would you describe your style?
4. Your top 3 favourite films?
5. What animal would you be and why?
6. Are you a dog or a cat person?
7. What are the best and worst things about blogging?
8. What is the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to you?
9. Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
10. What is your biggest future goal?

Thanks so much Jess for nominating me you worldie! I can't wait to see the answers to my questions for my nominees :-) Thanks so much for reading guys.

August Favourites

Hey guys! It's monthly favourites time, so I'm just going to get straight into them.

You might have seen this featured in one of my recent haul posts and since the day I bought it I have been wearing it so much! It has quickly become one of my favourite tops and incorporates some much needed colour into my wardrobe. It is from Monki which is one of my favourite brands!

  • Black & White Striped Top
Again, this was featured in the same haul and I have been loving this one even more! It's so flattering on me. It's from Primark and I wish it came in more colours because I really love the fit and shape of it.

I have been wearing the Bourjois bronzer for years now and recently I decided that I wanted to discover a new one. I decided not to go high end just yet as I had heard so many people rave about the Rimmel Natural Bronzer. I was not disappointed! In fact it is so much better than the Bourjois one as it is more pigmented. I also really love the colour pay off so I was very happy with this purchase. And for £4.49 you can't really argue.

  • Black Strappy Shoes
I bought these on a shopping trip with my friend Emily a few months back now and this month I have really worn them in. They look so nice and since it's been relatively warm they're fantastic for the weather. The best part about them is that they are incredibly comfortable so wearing them all night is not a problem. They're from H&M but I'm unsure if they'll still available now. You can tell from the picture that they have well and truly been worn in.

  • Snapchat
I have been absolutely loving Snapchat this month. I'm not sure why because I have had the app for a good couple of years but lately I've been using it almost everyday. It's just addictive! And that's strange because it's not even a game. Snapchat will always be a bit of a mystery to me because to be quite honest, there isn't a massive point to it. However I love it. Go ahead and add me on Snapchat my username is 'abieelucas' :-) I usually post stories daily.

Image does not belong to me.
I really never hear anybody talk about New Look's nail polishes and I have been guilty of ignoring them myself. However this colour 'Mink' really caught my eye as I've been searching for one this colour and bought it on a whim. It was only £2.99 so I thought it's not breaking the bank if it's rubbish. I wasn't expecting much from the cheap nail polish but honestly it's fantastic! I've been wearing it for about a week and I only have a few small chips here and there but I'm confident if I had used a base and/or a top coat it would still be looking perfect. I really urge you to try their collection because I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!

I have already spoken about this case in another post this month so I won't go into it too much but I have been really loving it and have received a lot of compliments on it! However if you're looking for something to really protect your phone I wouldn't buy this as it's a bit flimsy.

Another item that I have talked about before but I needed to add this into this post as I have been wearing at least one colour from the palette almost every single day! The colours are perfect for my colouring and eyes and they're really getting me excited for the Autumn make-up looks!! My most used colours have been Poppyseed, Quarry, Embark and Haux.

Yet another item I've featured before (sorry) but I really have been wearing it almost every day! In fact if I carry on this way I'm going to have to buy another. It's just the perfect every day nude and is very flattering! The picture doesn't really look like the colour it is in real life though..

Last but not least I wanted to add in my favourite film of the month. I have actually been to the cinema quite a few times this month however I didn't feel like any of the films that I had watched warranted a 'favourite'. Last week I decided to put on one of my favourite films, 'Big' and I'm so glad I did because I really have rekindled my love for it! Tom Hanks is my all time favourite actor and I believe this film is one of his best films he's done. It just has that magic that other films of its time had and I just thought I had to throw this in my favourites for this month :-) If you haven't seen it you really need to!

Image does not belong to me.
So that's it for my August Favourites. I hope you enjoyed reading this and be sure to let me know in the comments what you've been loving this month! Also let me know, do you love the film 'Big'? Thanks so much for reading and I'll catch you tomorrow in my next post!
